Tree Project 2018
Email sent to member Jan 27th, 2018
Hello Members -
The MCC Board has been working on a project since last year's Spring Clean-Up Event. We will be removing some dead and damaged trees as well as cleaning up some of the trees that have broken branches hanging in them around the clubhouse property. I would like to provide our members with some information and details about this project.
We had an arborist, Alan Haywood, come out and walk the property and provide us with a detailed tree report. For 30 years, Alan worked for the City of Issaquah Parks and Recreation Department, oversaw the Tree City USA program, and coordinated the landscaping aspects of all city projects. You can read more about Alan and his work at http://haywoodarborist.com/.
Alan provided us with information that allowed us to identify the trees that: (1) need immediate removal as they pose a safety concern to the clubhouse or cars parked in the parking lot; (2) just need cleaning up, or (3) need to be watched for the future. Taking all things into consideration including the environmental impact and the safety of our members and the community property, our plan includes removal of the high-risk trees, leaving some of the at-risk trees that pose no immediate danger to serve as snags, and then tagging the trees that we need to keep an eye on for the future.
With the trees that we are taking down, we will be producing chips for those who would like them and providing firewood to members who are interested. We will also be cutting some of the removed trees into pieces and placing them in the parking lot to act as parking curbs. We will place some along the fence in front of the pool and in front of the tennis courts. This will help define the boundaries and hopefully deter any accidents like we had last year when someone drove through the fence into the pool area.
The project will be ready by the second week in March. Please note that during the project the clubhouse, playground and parking lot will be closed.
If you would interested in chips or firewood please fill out this form: http://www.mirrormontcountryclub.org/treeproject2018.html. We will coordinate with you as we get closer to the work day.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
Thanks,
Christine Sample
